“There was a decision made here this morning that, for Theo to play here, he was going to have to fit into our top six wingers,” Sutter said. “He didn’t have the capabilities to do so. It had nothing to do with Theo’s heart or his mind for the game because I learned a lot here the last two weeks just being around him…His work ethic and everything involved every day was great. It’s unfortunate that when you haven’t played the game for six years, and at the age he’s at, that the legs just aren’t where they need to be.”
Makes sense to me, lets see if someone else picks him up by Monday. I am sure that is exactly why he’s not making an official statement until that time. Some of the crappier teams could use his skilled hands. But he is what he is, a 41 year old hockey player.
Do you think he got burned by the flames? I don’t.

No, I don’t think he was burned. There was nothing set in stone, and both parties agreed to the conditions beforehand. I believe he’ll get called up by someone, even if it is split between the NHL & the AHL. He has a lot to offer some of the kids today.

It was for his pension and to fill seats in the dome…. how did people not see this coming? really?

Have to disagree with you there, he doesn’t get a pension from this. Also Calgary has no issues filling the dome. If anything other than an actual come back, it would be to hype his book coming out soon.

in fact, he does get a pension from the NHL…being suspended meant he didn’t get a pension plan. Now that he has been reinstated – he is eligible for his pension.

and the ability to be inducted into the hall of fame is another reason for his reinstatement…
